Description: |
The 25 images presented here are of specific scenes across South Australia, taken from Aldine's History. The two volumes have embossed hard covers with leather spines and corners, and are in poor condition.
The images chosen for display represent approximately half those present in the two volumes. The remaining images are of flora, fauna, general scenes, and portraits of noted South Australians. A full list of these images will be included on this page soon. While the aim of the MAPCO website is to display maps, plans and views, a few flora and portrait images (Sturt's Desert Pea,
Governor Hindmarsh, & C.W. Holland & Wm. C. Young) have been included here as examples of the content of the Aldine history.
|
The Plan Of The City Of Adelaide will be displayed in full before the end of November 2007. This map of Adelaide will be displayed in the same manner as other MAPCO maps, with a navigation thumbnails and enlarged section images. The original printed map is not of the highest quality, so MAPCO will attempt to improve this by digitally manipulating the scanned
image. As with many images displayed on the site, this map will be digitally repaired and enhanced to ensure that the detail is as clear as possible for users of the site.
Image Sizes and Download Times
